JW Construction supporting ‘Caring for Connor’ with Karting event

To support the Caring for Connor Campaign, Jason Whiting from JW Construction is holding an evening Endurance Karting evening at Buckmore Park on Friday 21st October.

Connor Olsen, who lives with his parents in Westgate-on-Sea, suffers from the rare muscle wasting disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The condition will eventually affect all his muscles, including his heart, and most boys with DMD don’t survive their 20’s.

Jason’s still looking for a few more teams to maximise the fun (and the funds), so please visit www.facebook.com/events/1755336018070185/ or contact Jason (T 07816 935976 or email jason-whiting@hotmail.com) to find out how you can support this fantastic local cause and hopefully find a cure for Connor.

Lighthouse Window Cleaning donate 25% of revenue to East Kent Hospitals Appeal

Thanet Business Network members, Lighthouse Window Cleaning will be donating 25% of all their new domestic revenue during August and September to a fantastic local cause.

They’re proud supporters of East Kent Hospitals’ current appeal to raise £108k for a bereavement suite at the ‪Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother‬ Hospital in Margate‬.

The project is being led by Matron for Maternity Kerri Eilersten-Feeney, who said the suite would help parents who had suffered loss of a baby before or during birth.

EKHUFT Head of Midwifery and Gynaecological Nursing, Helen Bland, said: “This new suite will offer privacy and dignity to women and their families mourning the loss of their baby and will enable our midwives to better support them during this sad time. We are grateful to the East Kent Hospitals’ Charity, and to fundraisers, for their support.”

The amount raised so far stands at around £91,000, which leaves £17,000 left to raise to provide the much-needed facility, which they hope will open in October 2016.
